Southern-Ijaw Council Officials Seeks God’s Face
Officials of the Southern-Ijaw Local Government Council of Bayelsa have turned to God for direction in their quest to ensure the development of the area.
To achieve the objective, our correspondent reports that the officials conduct daily prayer session at the local government headquarters in Oporoma.
The idea for the daily prayer, according to Chief Shell Alafa, the Director, Local Government Administration and General Services in the council, is to draw workers closer to God.
He called on the workers to take their jobs seriously, noting that the days when workers sat at home and only surfaced at the council secretariat on pay days were over.
He urged them to support the current administration in the council led by Chief Tiwei Orunimghe to ensure that God’s presence and direction reigned in the area.
NAN reports that during one of the morning devotions at the council secretariat, the ministering Pastor, Orugbani Uwoukari, called on the workers to recognise and fear God if they must succeed in their jobs.
He advised them to pray for the federal, state and local governments, saying that it was instructive that they pray for one another to enable peace to reign in the area.
“We need to pray for peace to reign. Some people may come with evil intention to the office, but such dangers can be averted through effective prayers,’’ Owoukari said.
