Omurujia Crowned New Nzeobi Egbema
The crown prince of Omuruyia Royal House of Egbema Kingdom, Prince Charles Chukwuemeka Pius Ifejiako Omurujia has emerged as the new Nzeobi of Egbema in Rivers State.
Prince Omurujia who was coronated as the Nzeobi III of Egbema succeeded his late father, Eze Pius Omurujia who died several years ago. The installation ceremony took place at Mgbede, the traditional headquarter of the Egbema.
Performing the coronation ceremony, the most elderly man from the Umuntia royal house, Mgbede, Chief Bartholomew Okweregbo assured the new monarch of the support and cooperation of the entire Egbema people.
Chief Okweregbo charged the new Nzeobi not to be biased during his reign noting that his ability to carry the people along will go a long way towards his successful stewardship.
Responding, the HRH Eze Chukwuemeka Charles Omurujia III thanked Egbema people, especially the Umuntia Royal House for the confidence in choosing him as the new Nzeobi of Egbema and promised to discharge his royal duties with utmost good faith, diligence and service to the good people of Egbema Kingdom.
Eze Omurujia commended the three communities in Egbema, Rivers State, namely, Mgbede, Aggah and Okwuzi for finding him worthy and solicited the support and cooperation of all.
The new monarch promised to lead by example and called on all oil-prospecting companies as well as other corporate bodies operating in the area to assist in the development of Egbema kingdom.
He also appealed to the Rivers State Government and Ogba Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area to accord the Nzeobi stool the desired recognition and respect as, according to him, the Nzeobi stool is as old as any other stool in Nigeria.
The Nzeobi also advised the youths to steer clear from cultism, militancy and other social vices which are detrimental to societal development and pledged to constitute a surveillance committee to checkmate the rate of crime in Egbema Kingdom.
Elders, youths, women, and people from outside Egbema attended the ceremony.
