NSCIA Dissociates Self From Boko Haram Activities
The Nigerian Supreme
Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) South South zone has dissociated Rivers and South South Moslems from the activities of the Boko Haram terrorist group.
The vice President General of the council, Alhaji Ahmed Okiri who said this in an interview with newsmen shortly after Eid-El-Fitri prayer in Port Harcourt also described Boko Haram as a faceless group hiding under the cover of religion to unleash terror in the country.
Alhaji, Okirik said that Rivers Moslems will never be part of any group which activities is injurious to the corporate existence of Nigeria, pointing out that it is against Allah’s injunction for Moslems to kill fellow human beings.
The NSCIA Vice President General who was represented by the chairman Rivers State Islamic Council Alhaji Nasril Ahwelebe Uhor said that the Eid-El fitri represents the period of forgiveness of sins by the Almighty Allah, noting that by reasons of the fasting and prayer Moslems are now purified of their sins.
Also speaking, the Imam of the Rivers State central Mosque Alhaji, Ibrahim Yaalo urged Moslems to use the celebration as an opportunity to evangelise to Nigerians on the fundamental tenets of Islam.
Alhaji Yaalo also urged Moslems to see themselves as role models in the society, contending that the society will be better off if Moslems do the right things.
He used the occasion to also condemn the activities of the Boko Haram group.
