Ajax, Pirates To Face Charges Over Kit
Orlando Pirates, Ajax Cape Town and Witbank Spurs will appear in front of the PSL DC next week to face charges to do with their playing kit.
Orlando Pirates will appear in front of the PSL DC next week to face two charges, one being a failure to produce an alternative kit against Bidvest Wits at the weekend.
The second charge is for failing to change their outfit when the referee asked them to.
Pirates were requested to change their shorts and socks from black to another colour, because the home team, Wits, were wearing navy shorts and socks.
Both requests are part of rule 12.2 and 12.3 of the PSL kit manual.
Ajax Cape Town are also being changed by the PSL DC, for failing to put a sponsor logo on the right side of their jersey.
In their match against SuperSport United on November 18, Brent Carelse wore a jersey that did not have a sponsor [Absa] logo on the right-arm sleeve, contravening rule 9.1 of the kit manual.
hird, Witbank Spurs failed to produce a team jersey at the pre-match meeting ahead of their match against Chippa United on November 18, contravening section 4.2 of the kit manual. This is classed as ‘misconduct’ in the compliance manual.
Ngcongca Escapes UEFA Punishment

Bafana Bafana right-back Anele Ngcongca sat out last night’s UEFA Champions League clash with Valencia after yet again arriving home late from international duty … but is probably happy he did!
Genk were thumped 7-0 by the Spanish La Liga side and Ngcongca never made it onto the pitch after coach Mario Been left him out as punishment for his repeated late arrivals back in Belgium from South Africa.
The result confirmed that Genk would finish bottom of Group E, which means they will not drop down to the UEFA Europa League either. The team that finishes third in the pool goes into Europe’s second club competition.
Ngcongca and his teammates could still have a major say in who does finish in the top two though, with Bayer Leverkusen currently on top with nine points, followed by Chelsea and Valencia, who each have eight.
Genk will host Leverkusen in their final pool match on December 6 and if they eke out a win over the German Bundesliga side, it would mean that a draw between Chelsea and Valencia at Stamford Bridge would leave all three top sides on nine points.
Meanwhile, the debacle in Valencia is likely to see Ngcongca restored to the Genk starting line-up for the Jupiler League clash with high-flying Gent yesterday.
South Africa’s other UEFA Champions League representative, Thulani Serero, also did not make it off the bench for Ajax Amsterdam as they drew away in Lyon last Tuesday.

Narrating his ordeal, the 51-year-old, who guided Nigeria to gold in the Men’s Football Tournament of the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, broke the news in a statement on his social media handles on Friday.
“To God be the glory, another death escaped by Grace and Mercy of God. Me and my friend SM were at Enyo Filling Station after Ojodu Berger bus stop to get fuel on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, around 6 p.m. when this MACK truck fully loaded with iron, with registration number LND 470 XX, left the road and crushed my car beyond repairs. Thank God for life,” he stated.
This is the second time the soft-spoken club proprietor will cheat death by a whisker, having been involved in an accident in 1997 that ended his career at 23 and left his spinal cord in bad shape.

Ex – Super Eagles of Nigeria, Okwuchukwu Waobikeze has observed that sports development in Nigeria is going down.
According to him, grassroots sports is very important, without it, the administrators cannot get it right. So everybody should key into grassroots sports development, he said.
Waobikeze said this last Wednesday in an interview with sports journalists shortly after the Port Harcourt All Stars Independence football festival (OCTOBERFEST) at the Port Harcourt club, Rivers State.
He explained that for sports administrators to get it right, grassroots development is key. “They should be organising competition at the grassroots level to fish out the young ones for different sporting activities.
“Grassroots sports is very important so the administrators have to go back to the grassroots.
” Sports Development in Nigeria is going down we need to go back to the basics.
“Look at the just concluded Paris Olympics, Nigeria did not win any medal.
” Our football team did not even qualify for the Olympics. We are going down.
” If they should go back to the grassroots, they will get young ones in the games and talents will be developed.
” I started from school games, to youth games before playing for the national team. Now everybody wants to fly board to play professional football and a lot do not know the basics of the game.
” A lot of people did not know the little things about the game, they just want to play. It is not done so,” Waobikeze stated.
