Tukur Tasks PDP Members On Reconciliationa
The National Chairman of Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur has tasked the new executive of the party in
the 36 states of the Federation to reconcile members aggrieved by the last PDP
congress to reduce challenges in future elections.
Alhaji Tukur told party executives at the
inauguration of the new executive of the party, Rivers State chapter in Port
Harcourt, on Tuesday.
The party National Chairman, who was
represented by the party’s National Vice Chairman South-South, Dr Steven Ilese
disclosed that the party was seriously
working toward 2015 elections to ensure that all the 36 states are won by PDP.
The National Chairman commended the
re-elected chairman of the party in Rivers State, Chief Godspower U. Ake for
his commitment to ensure the state gave the highest votes in the election of
President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011.
He charged the new executive of the state
to maintain the position of Rivers State in supporting the party in any
subsequent elections.
In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman
of the party in Rivers State, Chief Godspower U. Ake pledged not to spare any
effort to strengthen the party’s popularity in the state.
He said the party would also continue in
the effort to resolve and reconcile all aggrieved members of the party to
maintain the winning position in
subsequent elections in the state and Nigeria in general.
Earlier, the Speaker of Rivers State House
of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Otelemaba Amachree who commended Chief Ake for leading
the party in the state peacefully in all elections during his first tenure,
appealed to the chairman and the exco members to maintain the vision of the party in the state.
The Speaker who noted that there would be a
lot of challenges in 2015, also appealed to the new executive of the party to
fast track the move to ensure all aggrieved members of the party are
reconciled.
