RSG, World Bank To Partner In Projects Dev
The Rivers State Govern
ment says it will continue to partner with the World Bank and other development agencies to complement development efforts in the state.
The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. Charles Gogo Levi gave the assurance when the representatives of World Bank and other development partners on the State Employment and Expenditure for Results Projects (SEEFOR) paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Port Harcourt, Monday.
He expressed happiness with the World Bank for approving the sector project in the state assuring that the state government would provide all the needed assistance that would fasttrack the completion of the project as scheduled.
Mr. Gogo Levi told the visitors that the present government attaches importance to public accountability and urged them to commence the project immediately so as to maximise its effectiveness.
In his address, the Task Team leader, World Bank, Mr George Larbi said they were in the state to access the level of work done by other counterpart agencies in the project with a view to offer a helping hand for smooth take off of the project.
The team leader disclosed that when the Federal Government and the bank signed the needed agreement and review the project manual as well as capture the loan, the project, he said would commence.
The Tide learnt that the visit was a follow up visit by the group to the state to ascertain its readiness and acceptance to the project early last year which gave rise to the project approval by the board of World Bank.
The Tide further learnt that State Employment and Expenditure For Results Projects (SEEFOR) is a World Bank sponsored projects for states of the South-South region and Rivers State is a beneficiary.
