CHCN Synod To Review State Of The Nation
The state of the nation including the insecurity orchestrated by the Islamic fundamentalist group, Boko Haram will come under review during the 1st session of the 2nd General Synod of the Christ Healing Church of Nigeria (CHCN) which begins Friday in Okigwe, Imo State.
The synod which will hold at St. Silas Jerusalem Healing Church, Okigwe will also take a position and issue a communiqué on other burning national issues including the planned release of N5,000 notes by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The Archbishop of Christ Healting Church of Nigeria, Most Rev. Benjamin A. Obomanu (MFR) stated this Sunday while addressing newsmen in Port Harcourt.
Obomanu who is the Director, National Issues and Social Welfare in the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rivers Chapter and first Vice Chairman of the Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC) in Rivers State said however that CHCN holds the activities of Boko Haram condemnable in line with the position of CAN. The Archbishop said the theme of the synod is “Love of God and fellow men”.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Obomanu has appealed to the Rivers State Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in the Rivers State University of Science and technology (RSUST), Nkpolu to embrace dialogue, with a view to achieving speedy resolution of issues surrounding the current ASUU strike at the institution.
Lamenting that RSUST was fast earning for itself the image of a strike –prone academic community, the religious leader said the interest of the students and their helpless parents should be considered by the warring parties. Obomanu said that even thought he lacked the facts and figures relating to the current empasse in the institution, the law establishing that institution which guides the appointment of the vice chanccellor should prevail over other interests.
