HOS Tasks Retirees On Proper Documentation
Prospective retirees in the
Rivers State Civil Service have been advised to begin the processing of their documents early to enable them get their entitlements on time.
Head of Service, Barr. Samuel LongJohn gave the advice last Friday at a send forth ceremony organised by the Office of the Head of Service for staff who retired from the service in 2012.
Barr. LongJohn noted with dismay that retirees begin the documentation process after their retirement from the service, stressing that the process of documentation should begin three months before retirement to enable them conclude the process before leaving the service and get paid on time.
The Head of Service said if the advice is adhered to, retirees would receive their entitlements at most three months after retirement, pointing out that efforts are being made to further facilitate the documentation process as plans have reached advanced stage to set up a ‘one stop shop’ for pension documentation to relieve workers of the difficulties encountered in the process.
The Head of Service to educate them on the need for effective planning and so maximize their retirement life.
He congratulated the retirees on their meritorious service to the State and enjoined them to commit their retirement life to God for guidance and direction.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare in the office of the Head of Service, Mr. Lambert Ekwueme, commended the Head of Service for fulfilling his promises by providing enhanced training and welfare packages for staff.
Responding on behalf of the retirees, Mr. Godwin Jonathan thanked the Head of Service for appreciating their service to the State and prayed God to give him the wisdom to pilot the affairs of the Civil Service.
