Commissioner Tasks Parastatals On Staff Training
The Commissioner for
Information and Communications, Mrs Ibim Semenitari, has charged Agencies and parastatals under the ministry to pay more attention to the training and retaining of their staff.
Mrs Semenitari who said this while declearing open a one-day workshop on “contemporary News reporting / programming techniques for enhanced profitability in the Broadcast industry,” organised by Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation, (RSBC), said that Agencies under the ministry must be ahead of the rest in the media industry.
The Commissioner who was represented by the permanent secretary in the ministry Mrs Jokotade Adamu, said that the programme was inline with what the ministry is currently doing in the training of its staff.
According to her, the programme is a welcome development as it will help to improve productivity there by making Radio Rivers Competitive as far as the media industry is concern.
She also adviced the management of Rivers State News Paper Corporation (RSNC) and Rivers State Television (RSTV) to emulate Radio Rivers, by also holding seminar for their staff and assured that the ministry will continue to bring the pressing need of the parastatal to the attention of government.
The General Manager of the Corporation, Ms Medline Tador said that the training was part of the programme of the management to boost productivity and enhance the quality of service of the station.
Ms Tador also said that the situation is to make Radio Rivers Competitive.
She urge the staff of the corporation to put in more effort towards boosting their productivity.
In a paper entitled “ICT and Broadcasting: The methods techniques and application,” Mr Ladapo Olakunle Boma stressed the need for the management of RSBC to open a website that will showcase the station and its achievement.
He also stated the need for the management of Radio Rivers to not only find ways of attracting quality People to the station through the website but also ensure that they put unline the profiles of personalities and presenters.
Also speaking, a leacturer with the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST), Dr Rechard Amadi describe the programme as a welcome development and declared that in these days of competition, the broadcast media must look for a way of getting the best for their staff and all others to emulate Radio Rivers.
