Kula Community Assures On GMoU Implementation
The Kula Regional De
velopment Committee, (KURDC) in Akuku Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State has restated its commitment to the implementation of the Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU) signed between Kula and Chevron Nigeria Limited.
The chairman of the KURDC, Hon Stanley Benibo disclosed this during the 5th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the stakeholders of Kula GMoU held in Port Harcourt recently.
Hon. Benibo said the operations of the KURDC was guided by a working community development Plan for project implementation.
According to him, in line with this action plan, KURDC has successfully constructed and allocated 30 housing units of 3-bedroom bungalows and its component projects to families that were affected during the mapping and scoping of the proposed construction of Kula main town internal road.
He also stated that the KURDC had also embarked on the award of scholarship to 160 post primary school students as well as 130 post secondary school students in line with the KURDC, /CNL/NNPC joint venture schorlarship project scheme.
Hon Benibo, who thanked the GMoU stakeholders, such as, chevron, Rivers State Government, Akuku Toru LGA and NDDC for their commitment to the GMoU process, urged the beneficiaries of the Kia/Rio revolving interest free loan transport scheme embarked upon by the KURDC, to payback the loan to enable others benefit. The KURDC Chairman also thanked Chevron for donating a 500KVA transformer to Kula Community outside the GMoU agreement and called on Kula youths to embrace peace and work collectively towards the development of Kula.
