A’Ibom Surveyor-General Seeks Surveyors’ Synergy
Akwa Ibom State
Surveyor-General, Mrs Emem Isang, has called for a synergy between the Office of the Surveyor- General and other surveyors in the state, for effective and speedy job delivery.
Isang made the call in Uyo during an interactive session with the staff comprising Surveyors, Survey Technicians, Survey Assistants, Draughtsmen, Air Mapping Assistants and Cartographers in the state.
The Surveyor-General charged them to re–double efforts in overcoming the challenges at their different duty posts, in line with the good governance policy of the present administration in the state.
‘’With the right attitude, determination and commitment, coupled with adequate equipment, we can increase the productive capacity of the Office to meet the demands and expectations of government, clients and the general public.
‘’We need to be hardworking and versatile in all areas of surveying and in the workings of every technical department of the Office, to raise their professional ratings and productivity,’’ she said.
Isang expressed her optimism to motivate the staff through team spirit and conscientious leadership.
She urged the technical staff to cooperate in improving the image of the Office as one government agency poised to achieve proactive results in its delivery of precise survey data and information.
Earlier, the immediate-past Surveyor-General, Mr Okokon Essien, described her as a consummate professional.
He said that the State Surveyor-General was a distinguished fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, capable of repositioning the office to pragmatically meet the challenges of the civil service.
Essien expressed confidence in her competence in the field of Surveying, having had enough national and international exposure in professional activities within the Nigerian Institute of Surveyors, Women–in–Surveying and the International Federation of Surveyors.
He called on the staff to cooperate with the new Surveyor-General, to enable her to give her best to the state, in particular and the country, in general.
Essien stated that the Office of the state Surveyor-General became an Extra–Ministerial Department since January 1, 2007.
He said that development came as a result of the adoption of the recommendation of the Federal Government by the state Executive Council on the restructuring of Survey Departments nationwide.
