Bishop Lauds Pa Orlu-Akwu For Selfless Service
The remains of late Eze
Isaac Johnson Orlu-Akwu, father of The Tide Deputy Group News Editor, Reward Akwu have been interred at his country home, Okporowo-Ogbakiri in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Late Eze Orlu-Akwu died on March 26, 2016, at the age of 95, at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) after a brief illness.
In his sermon at the funeral service at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Okporowo-Ogbakiri, the Bishop of Ikwerre Diocese, Rt. Rev. Blessing Enyindah said the mammoth crowd that came to pay their last respect to the late educationist was a testimony that he impacted positively on the lives of so many people.
He noted that Pa Orlu-Akwu radiated royalty, wisdom, intelligence and brilliance, describing him as a nationalist, community leader and a selfless man who contributed immensely to the well-being of mankind.
Bishop Enyindah stated that the nonagenarian had left enduring legacies for the present and future generations and thanked God for granting him long life.
He called on government at all levels to pay adequate attention to the welfare of teachers, stressing that they deserved fantastic pay package given the importance of their job.
He used the opportunity to call on Nigerians to join hands with government to make life more meaningful for the generality of the people.
