Multiple Taxation: NASSI Hails Wike
The National Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI), Rivers State Chapter has commended the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, for coming up with the harmonisation of tax formula to end double taxation in the State.
The chairman of the association, Captain Opunabo Briggs lauded the governor over the weekend in a chat with newsmen immediately after the stakeholders meeting of the association at his office in Port Harcourt.
According to him, Rivers State government is the first to settle the issue of double taxation to create the enabling environment for businessmen and industrialists in South-South region of Nigeria.
He lauded the state government for being responsive, responsible and friendly with businessmen and industrialists, especially the small scale industries in the state.
Briggs who restated the association’s commitment in defending its members in the face of business challenges, said the group has secured a working relationship with all the notable financial institutions to enable small scale industrialists access funds and loans to do their businesses in the State.
He said, the association also had a synergy with the State Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Agriculture, and Ministry of Youth and Empowerment to ensure good working and business policies that would be favourable to the growth of small scale businesses in the state.
He also said that the association has a good working relationship with both federal government and agencies in the area of double taxation which has hitherto been an area of misunderstanding between the businessmen, industrialists and governments, saying that the taxation issues had also been resolved with the federal government.
