A marine transporter in Rivers State, Mr. ThankGod Mbah has appealed to the state government to construct a modern Jetty at the UST, Back gate waterside to enable safety of passengers in the area.

He called on the ministry of transport to prevail on the company to desist from dumping debris into the water adding that such waste causes boat mishap, adding that the residents of Nkpor also contribute to the waste in the water.
Lamenting at the insecurity in the route, Mbah appealed to the Marine Police Force and the Navy to provide adequate security to the water route to save passengers travelling the route.
The mariners also appealled to the management of Nigerian Maritime Administrative and Safety Agency and the Ministry of Transport to provide life vests to boat operators plying the route to curb boat accident.
Mbah also called for the construction of a concrete walkway in the waterside to aid easy movement of persons and goods in the waterfront.
The operator who condemned incessant attacks of passengers and operators by pirates called for deployment of marine police and Navy to the route to arrest the ugly menace by sea robbers.
