Police Recover Body Of Kidnapped APC Chieftain In Rivers
The Rivers State Police Command says it has recovered the decomposing corpse of Hon. Samuel Nwanjoku, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who was kidnapped last week in Apani Community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Late Samuel wasthe younger brother of the suspended lawmaker representing Ikwerre Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Azubuike Nwanjoku.
The deceased who was a chieftain of APC in Ikwerre LGA was kidnapped by unknown gunmen and whisked off to an unknown destination.
Spokesman of the State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, who confirmed the latest incident to The Tide on telephone said the Police had launched a manhunt for the killers of the politician.
Omoni, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) said policemen had been combing the bushes since his abduction in a bid to rescue him, before his decomposing remains were discovered on Saturday morning.
He said, “When we heard of the kidnap, our men swang into action to make sure we get him out.
“We (policemen) have been combing the bush since then, unfortunately that did not yield the desired result as his decomposing body was recovered in a bush on Saturday morning by our men.
