PHCCIMA Boss Tasks Stakeholders On Second Phase SEEFOR Programme
Bolstered by the success of the first phase of the State Employment and Expenditure for Results (SEEFOR) project in Rivers State, Vice President of the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA), Eze Mike Elechi, has called for the approval of the second phase of the programme.
Former permanent secretary in the state, Eze Elechi, said this at the commissioning of some micro projects by the Rivers State Governemtn in collaboration with the World Bank/European Union (EU) in Elele Community in Ikwerre Local Government Area.
The projects include, two town halls, water borcholes and markets at Omuisia and Omuwhodah communities all in Elele.
Elechi who is the Obuah Weze III of the community said approval of the second phase would enable more rural communities to benefit from the World Bank projects.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Barr Eluka Tasie Amadi, has called on communities in the state to protect World Bank projects in their areas.
The commissioner, who was represented by the Project Director, Community Driven Development Social Project Implementation Unit (CDDS-PIU), Rivers SEEFOR Project, Sir ThankGod Amaewhule, said the micro projects would improve the economy of the respective communities.
Amaewhule said the town halls would provide a place for interaction among the people, the market would increase commercial activities while the borchole would check the spread of waterborne disease.
According to him, the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) has delivered on its mandate through the construction of micro projects to enhance the living conditions of rural communities.
