Ex-Militant Alerts On Planned Invasion Of Community
A former militant leader in the State, Chief Solomon Ndigbara, has alerted the State and the security agencies over plan by some cultists within and outside Ogoni to invade Yeghe community in Gokana Local Government Area.
Chief Ndigbara who said this in an interview with newsmen at Yeghe also called for vigilance among youths in Ogoni land,
He said before now, Ogoni people had enjoyed peace and security, stating that the recent increase in violent crimes in Ogoni had been caused by cultists and some of their supporters from outside Ogoniland.
He said reliable information available to him reveal that such planned attack is underway and calls for vigilance on the part of Yeghe and its neighbouring communities.
Tracing the source of what he described as ‘the plight of Yeghe people’, Ndigbara said that, unlike some communities in Ogoni today, Yeghe with all it challenges had been able to maintain peace and order to the envy of those who hate peace and development in Ogoni, adding that this is why some people are planning to invade Yeghe under the cover of cultism to destroy lives and properties and even assassinate him.
Also speaking, on the boundary dispute between Ue-Gwere Boue Community in Khana LGA and Yeghe people, Ndigbara explained that one of the conditions he had with the Federal Government when he embraced the presidential amnesty was to shun violent crime and be a peace ambassador to his community, state and Nigeria in general.
According to him, “ there is no way I could have stirred trouble between Yeghe and UE-Gwere Boue, two communities that have lived in peace even before I was born”.
Chief Ndigbara described the dispute between the two communities as one induced by some cultists who do not wish both communities well.
“I am appealing to the public to be calm, while the security officials conduct honest and thorough investigation into the Boue-Yeghe dispute and the plan to invade Yeghe also. I am also appeaing to members of Ue-Gwere Community to maintain a peaceful disposition, not allowing their youths to be used to create crisis between us together as communal neighbours”.
Chief Ndigbara also thanked the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, for his development strides across the state and called on all Ogoni youths to shun cultism and violent crimes, in order to attract industries and the attendant job opportunities.

100 Days: Omuma Council Boss Lists Achievements
The Chairman of Omuma Local Government Council in Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Promise Reginald, has given his scorecard in the first 100 days of his administration.
Reginald was elected on October 6, 2024 under the platform of All People’s Party (APP) alongside 21 other Council chairmen in the State, with the exclusion of Etche Local Government Council chairman, Dr. Uzodinma Nwafor, who was elected from a different political party.
Given his scorecard at a press briefing held in his Port Harcourt last Thursday, the Omuma Council boss expressed gratitude to Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, and the Omuma people for the confidence reposed in him.
He listed restoration of 24 hours electricity, belle first welfare empowerment programme, purchase of 28 empowerment vehicles as well as 100 JAMB forms as some of the projects his administration had achieved within the first 100 days in office.
Others were the construction of Eberi Mordern Market, renovation of Eberi Hospital, construction of hospital and rural road in Ward 2 as well as the construction of a secondary school project in Ward 10 as ongoing projects started by his administration that were near completion within three to four months period.

Fubara had taken over the construction of the modern school project and the road construction.
On the human capacity development, the chairman said that his administration introduced an empowerment programme where an Omuma indegene was given one million naira every month to support his or her business.
“On education development, we have constituted a Scholarship Board to award scholarships to 10 best students of Omuma origin from year one to final year, and also we have resolved to award overseas scholarships to three Omuma indigenes to study abroad in science, medicine and engineering related disciplines. We want to leave a legacy that we will be remembered when we leave office”, he stated
According to him, his administration has proposed to establish a modern hotel in the area and also embark on mechanized agriculture to boost the revenue and tourism of the local government area.
He used the opportunity to thank the people of the local government area for their support for the Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, and assured that Omuma people would continue to support the present administration in the state.
