Vigilantes Commit To Supplementary Security Provision
The Commander General, Nigeria Vigilante Group ( NVG), Mr Mohammed Jahun, has said that his group was ready to provide supplementary security, sequel to the wide spread insecurity in the country.
Jahun said this when the NVG paid a courtesy call to King Leslie N Eke, Eze Gbakagbaka at his palace in Woji in Obio/Akpor Local Government recently.
He said the decision was sequel to the back drop of the incessant security threats at all quarters throughout the federation.
The security expert who said that they were on sensitisation tour across the 36 states of the country, said Rivers was the 12th state so far visited.
With his total five million registered members in the country and 10, 000 registered members in the State, he expressed optimism of the possible victory over the security menace.
According to him, the aim of the sensitisation exercise was to know how best to partner the federal security agencies on how to fight against insecurity.
At the community level, he said that the aim would be defeated if the Royal fathers were excluded, hence the courtesy call on the Eze Oha Evo the III of Evo Kingdom, King Eke.
“We cannot do it without the support of the royal fathers. Security is not only everybody’s business, but everyone’s concern”, he said.
In his response, King Eke, told his visitors that the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike had already done much in support of security improvement in the state.
The monarch who claimed that such support by Wike was glaring, pointed out that the security agencies themselves can attest to the fact.
“ I want you and your group to assist in security work. vigilante is important to security network” , he said.
Meanwhile, he has called on the Vigilante group to partner other security operatives in the country, if their claims to fight insecurity was anything to go by.
