Group Charges N’Delta Govts On Youth Employment
A Niger Delta-based non-governmental organisation, Patriotic Forum of Niger Delta (PFOND), has tasked governments in the region on creation employment opportunities for youths.
The forum said this at the end of its general congress in Port Harcourt.
According to the forum, the creation of employment opportunities for youths will check restiveness among the youths in the region.
The group also stressed the need for various stakeholders in the Niger Delta to toe the path of peace, love and harmony.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen, National Publicity Secretary of the group, Apostle John Amaowoh said the congress was held to discuss the various security issues confronting the country. According to him, the congress took a holistic view about events happening in the country.
“moreso the heavy security challenges and other factors,” he said.
Apostle Amaowoh also decried the rate of unemployment in the South-South region, adding that time has come for the various governments in the region to take up the challenge of providing employment opportunities for youths.
“The issue of unemployment among other challenges facing the youth of the region was also discussed.
“Governments in the region were advised to look into the issue with a view to proffering solution to it,” Amaowoh added.
Speaking further, Amaowoh said the proposed NDDC shipbuilding training also top agenda at the forum’s meeting.
The National Chairman, Comrade Owo Udoh stressed the need for the association to form cooperative of duly registered members.
