Senator Tasks Youths On Nation Building
The Senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator George Thompson Sekibo, has charged Nigerian youths to always contribute to nation building and be a tool for societal development.
Sekibo, who made the call during the National Union of Rivers State Students’ youth day celebration at the NURSS national secretariat in the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt noted that youths across the globe have become vehicles of societal transformation and advised the students to take their studies very seriously so as to gain useful skills in order to add value to the society and contribute their quota to nation building.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Rivers State Governor on Special Projects and Head, Bureau for Special Projects, Hon Dax Alabo George-Kelly promised to give a bus to the union and also sponsor the NURSS national quiz competition, debate and Spelling Bee competition for primary, secondary schools and tertiary institutions.
He commended the students for their support to the present administration in the state and assured his continued support and contributions to them.
Earlier in his address, the NURSS National President, Comrade Levi Zachariah George talked extensively on the role of the youths in advancing agricultural processes and increasing food supply in the nation, and pleaded with leaders to assist those who have a flair for agriculture through training and making available credit facilities for smooth implementation of agricultural entrepreneurship.
The Tide reports that the programme featured awards presentation to senior citizens who have contributed to youth and students development in the state.
