The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has completed the training of 121 personnel of its security outfit, the Aviation Security (AVSEC).
General Manager, Corporate Affairs of FAAN, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, disclosed this in a statement which was made available to aviation correspondents at the weekend.
She said that the security officers were drawn from Abuja, Maiduguri, Yola, Jos, Gombe, Dutse and Sokoto airports.
Other airports where the trained personnel were drawn from are Zaria, Kaduna, Kebbi, Makurdi and Katsina.
Yakubu said that the personnel were taken through mandatory six weeks security training programme of 123 Basic Course, which was both intellectual and physical.
“Some of the topics taken during the course include overview of legislation, access control, people and vehicle, as well as the airport emergency (Basic fire prevention).

“In accordance with the requirements of the National Civil Aviation Security Training Programme (NCASTP), the trainees all attained the 70 per cent pass mark before graduating”, she said.
While reiterating the commitment of FAAN to the upholding of its core values of safety and security, MrsYakubu assured that the training and retraining of its security personnel would be a continuous one.
