Police In Jigawa Recover Live Ammunition, Magazines Abandoned By Suspects
The Jigawa Police Command said it has recovered 44 live ammunitions, three empty magazines and a motorcycle abandoned by suspected criminals.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, ASP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed this in a statement in Dutse yesterday.
Shiisu said the items were recovered on Dec. 9, at about 5:30 a.m., after unidentified suspects pursued by a team of policemen and vigilantes abandoned them in a bush in Ringim Local Government Area of the state.
“On December 9, at about 0427hrs, policemen from Jahun division, Ringim division and members of vigilante group while on patrol, pursued unidentified suspected criminals riding on a motorcycle.
“When the said unidentified suspects noticed that all the roads were blocked by our men, they decided to divert into a bush and policemen and vigilantes refused to relent in their efforts, therefore pursued them into the bush.
“Though the suspects escaped, however, at about 0530hrs, the joint patrol team took a decision to comb the forest again,’’ Shiisu said.
He explained that during the combing, 23 pieces of 5.56mm, 20 pieces of 0.9mm and one 7. 62mm live ammunition abandoned by the suspects were recovered.
The PPRO added that three empty magazines of different rifles, a red Kasea motorcycle with registration number: QA 493 GRK, one iron pinch bar and a head veil were also found.
According to him, efforts were on to arrest the fleeing suspects.
NDLEA Arrests Drug Couriers, Seizes 1m Tramadol Capsules, Other Substances – Official
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 43-year-old, Onuoha Friday, with one million capsules of Tramadol on Dec. 10 along Lagos-Benin expressway.
The NDLEA spokesperson, Mr Femi Babafemi, made this known in a statement made available to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja.
Babafemi said that operatives of the agency also had two major arrests in Anambra, where a total of 238.973kilograms of assorted illicit drugs were recovered.
He said that the NDLEA operatives intercepted a truck conveying the illicit drugs at the Onitsha head bridge heading to Delta on Dec. 3.
He said that various quantities of codeine, tramadol, diazepam and rohypnol were recovered from the vehicle and its driver, Obinna Obinwa, was arrested.
“Similarly, on Dec. 8, the agency’s patrol team on Onitsha head bridge intercepted another truck going to Delta with different quantities of assorted illicit drugs while the driver, Lucky James, was also arrested.
“In Delta, raids and follow up operations carried out in parts of the state on Dec. 10 led to the arrest of 17-year-old Abdulkarim Shiabu and 23-year-old Lawal Saidu.
“Both are from Niger Republic, and four others with different quantities of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, tramadol and cannabis.
“Others arrested include: Precious Oghenegwoke; Loveth Omukoro; Uche Godwin and Uti Harrison,” he said.
Babafemi said that one Adam Salaudeen was also arrested at Ogori Magongo area in Kogi with 214.7kg of Cannabis sativa.
He quoted the Chairman, NDLEA, retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa, as commending the officers and men of Ondo, Anambra and Kogi states for the arrests and seizures.
According to the statement, Marwa charged them and their compatriots across the country to remain vigilant and resolute in the collective mission to rid every part of Nigeria of illicit drugs.

New Rivers CP assures of non partisan …moves against human rights violation
The new Rivers state commissioner of police ,CP Olugbenga Adepoju has assured that his administration will remain apolitical in the discharge of his duties in the state.
Adepoju who officially assumed office last Friday as the 47th police commissioner of police stated this during his median press briefing held at state police command over the weekend in Port Harcourt.
He assured that under his watch as the police helmsman in the state his administration will ensure protection of human rights and warn that any police officer who violate the rights of people will be sanctioned in accordance with the police act and
urged Rivers people to hold the Police accountable, share view of people with police.
“We are committed to transparency.
My priority is to ensure safety, security and welfare of all residents in the state.
Being an economic hub of the country,the state faces challenges of crisis from political interest, economic sabotage illegal oil bunkering.

Police invites assaulted female victim, assures of protection
The Rivers State Police Command says it has acknowledged a social media report on alleged assault of a lady by police officers along Evo Road, Port Harcourt.
A statement signed by the police public Relations Officer (PPRO),SP Grace Iringe Koko in Port Harcourt, yesterday said the police acknowledged the report of such alleged assault and invite the lady involved to visit the command so as to enable the command to commence investigation with a view to apprehend the officers involved.
“We urge the lady involved to visit the Police Headquarters to enable a thorough investigation into the matter. This step will assist us in identifying the officers involved and ensuring that appropriate actions are taken.”
