LG Boss Delivers Buildings To DSS, Police
Tai Local Government Area in the State has handed over two renovated and furnished office buildings to the Nigeria Police and Department of State (DSS) in the area.
Speaking, while handing over keys and relevant documents of the buildings to the two security agencies at Sakpenwa, the council headquarters, the Chairman of the Local Government Area, Okpe Mkpakpene, said the structures were basically to improve security in the area.
According to him, within his 100 days in office, his administration has executed and completed projects that will enhance peace and develop the area in all ramifications.
“Honestly, what motivated me was the sterling performance of the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, who has turned Rivers State to a new city following his infrastructural development.
I also want to tell you that apart from the two buildings, my administration has trained 118 indigenes in pipeline, Agon wielding and ICT, while over 100 persons are sponsored for military recruitment and training.
Beside, we have revitalised the multi-million naira vocational training centre at Koroma Tai and awarded scholarship to 10 students in tertiary institution” Hon. Mkpakpene said.
Speaking at the event, the State Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Amb Desmond Akawor commended the council chairman for his bold step to emulate the governor’s developmental strides at the grassroots.
He urged him to remain committed and sustain the deveploment he has started.
Also speaking, State Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday also applauded Mr Okpe for carrying the police along in his administration.
CP Friday, who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Operations, DCP, Adamu Mauzu assured the council chairman that they will continue to protect lives and property in the area.
