RSU VC Commends Security Unit
The Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, Prof Nlerum S Okogbule has commended the security unit of the university for the pragmatic role played towards the security of lives and property throughout 2021.
The Vice Chancellor made the commendation at the end of year party organised by the security unit recently in the university’s main campus.
The Vice Chancellor who was represented at the occasion by the Director of Quality Assurance, Prof. Eric Amadi, charged staff of the security unit to improve on the achievements recorded, calling on the entire university community to continue to support them with useful information.
Earlier in his address, the Acting Chief Security Officer of the university, Mr. Chukwuma Ebere expressed gratitude to God for His infinite mercies upon the security unit.
The Acting Chief Security Officer said that the essence of the end of year party was to appreciate God who gave them good health to discharge their duties in a professional way. He also said that the party was to provide a forum for staff of the unit to celebrate together.
Mr. Ebere thanked the Governing Council led by Justice Iche N. Ndu (rtd), for the approval of two Hilux vans for effective security patrol. He also appreciated the university management for providing the enabling environment and resources that helped the unit perform its duties without fear or favour.
Highpoint of the ceremony was the presentation of Awards of Honour to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nlerum S. Okogbule, former Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Opuenebo B. Owei, former Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. M. J. Ayotamuno and a former Chief Security Officer of the university, Flt. Lt. W. U. Ebere (rtd).
Others included Mr Paul Benson, Long Serving Personnel; Mr. Ndeakiribari Obianume, Best Diligent and Hard Working Personnel and Mrs. Joan Noel Job, Best Dressed Uniform Personnel.
