Traditional Rulers Hail Wike Over Unity Road Completion
The Andoni Local Government Area Traditional Rulers Council has commended Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike for his renewed effort to complete the Andoni section of Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo-Nkoro Unity Road.
Acting Chairman of the council, King Aaron Miller Ikuru, who said this in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt, said Andoni people will forever remain grateful to Wike for bringing development to the people’s doorsteps.
He also said the people are ready to support the contractor to ensure the completion of the project.
“The Governor also had stakeholders meeting with us this evening. We are just from the meeting.
“He expressed his willingness and preparedness to get the road completed before his exit from government and the contractor has vehemently promised to complete the job by March, next year, barely 10 months from now”, he said.
Ikuru said the people of Andoni are ready to assist the contractor complete the job, stressing that the traditional rulers council will collaborate with security agencies to nip all incidences of kidnappings and other disturbances in the bud.
“We will assist the contractor in every considerable way to ensure the speedy completion of the road because it is very important to us”, he said.
The King listed the benefits of the road to the people of Andoni to include increase transportation of goods and services, thereby improving the economy of the area.
He said the people have agreed that nothing will affect the completion of the project this time around, stressing that already Andoni is peaceful and calm.
“We all agreed on the issue of the road, that nothing will disturb the contractor. On our part, we will not create any impediment or obstruction for the contractor”.
Ikuru also advised the people, including the women and the youths to see the project as their own and desist from acts that may affect its completion.
