NCAA Announces Renewal Of Azman Airline’s Licence
Nigeria’s aviation regulatory agency, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has announced that the Air Transport Licence of the Azman Air has been renewed.
NCAA in a press statement by the Director General of the agency, Capt. Musa Nuhu, which was made available to Aviation correspondents, stated that the airline’s licence was renewed after fulfilment of all its outstanding requirements.
“Consequent upon the fulfilment of all outstanding requirements, the NCAA has renewed the Air Transport Licence of Azman Air, enabling the Airline to resume flight operations”, the statement explained.
NCAA had earlier suspended Azman Air two months after grounding the Aero Contractors and Dana Air on the notes of some inadequacies, which was reflecting the crisis in the aviation sector.
NCAA’s DG, Nuhu, had also confirmed that the agency was withholding the Air Transport License of Azman Air.
The agency said the license was withheld pending when the airline provided the required documentation for its operational licenses’ renewal and sign a Memorandum of Understanding on how it would remit its legacy debt accrued from the collection of Passenger Service Charge.
According the DG, Azman Air must sign the MOU to negotiate its debt remittance, which was part of the N42bn and $7.8m debts, and also provide tax clearance as one of the documentation for its Air Transport Licence.
Nuhu said as soon as the airline complied, it would get its approvals, as these were part of the renewal processes to ensure the regulator did not go under.
It would be recalled that Azman airline had, last Thursday, asked its members of staff not to show up for work based on operational reasons.
