Evo King Kicks Against Crime, Violence
The Eze Oha Evo III of Evo Kingdom, Leslie Eke, Eze Gbakagbaka, has called on the youths of Evo Kingdom, not to indulge in crime or violence.
Eke made the call in a chat with newsmen in his palace in Woji, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, yesterday.
He said since the arrival of the new year signifies joy, it will be out of place to mark it with even an iota of violence or crime.
The Evo King noted that violence and crime have never yielded any positive development and should be jettisoned from the people’s agenda.
The traditional ruler challenged Rivers people and its residents to emulate Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike who, he said, has achieved a lot for the state through non-violence means.
As a custodian of the people, he stated how crime and violence have deprived its actors from reaching their targets in life.
“Crime is evil, desist from it. Learn how to live a peaceful life. It will pay you better than crime or violence”, he said.
He also warned against burning of used car tyres on the road and breaking of bottles, saying that such was a barbaric and obsolete way of celebration.
“It is a new year, everyone must think positive. You can’t keep on living same lifestyle and expect new results. The new year cannot change you unless you decide to change yourself”, he said.
He expressed appreciation to the military and sister agencies for deploying a number of their personnel during the 2022 Christmas celebration and urged them to maintain such number until the new year celebration is over.
It will be recalled that Police in the state have warned against use of crackers during the yuletide celebrations.
