Stay Off Violence, Crime, Evo King Charges Youths
The Eze Oha Evo III, HM King Leslie Eke, Eze Gbakagbaka, has called on youths to stay clear from violence as they go about to campaign for their preferred candidates.
Giving the charge in a chat with newsmen in Port ort Harcourt, recently, Eke said that elections are not occasions for violence, saying that no one needed to be maimed or killed to deliver any candidate.
“If we believe in God, then, we should believe that God will give us the right candidate”, he said.
The traditional ruler insisted that violence cannot usher in any meaningful development, hence it should be removed from the people’s scheme of things.
According to him, crime and violence are like co-joined twins that never pay its actors well.
“We must all learn how to stay off violence and crime. There should be decent approach to issues rather than creating trouble that will hunt one for ages”, he said.
Urging the youth to develop tough skin against crime, the Evo king expressed regrets that some youths are still in the habit of committing violence and participating in crime, saying that they must turn a new leaf, if they want to be addressed as reasonable members of the society.
“No amount of money or property is equal to your life. Besides, you have one life to live, why the hurry to end it via violence and crime involvement”, he queried.
The monarch also appealed to security operatives to do a sort of arm mopping before the election proper in order to ensure a crime-free environment.
King Eke lauded the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, for the financial donation to the legionnaires in the state during the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration in Port Harcourt, saying it is a huge step towards the promotion of security in the state.
