Speaking with newsmen recently in Port-Harcourt on his development mantra, Okere noted that it was not contestable that a great number of persons in the LGA are living in abject poverty as a result of economic hardship, which needs urgent steps to address properly.
“Sincerely speaking, before now, sizeable number of Oyigbo people have called on me severally, begging that I should try to make myself available to contest for the soul of Oyigbo Chairmanship position, giving reasons that it is only my type of person among the lots, who is very compassionate and understands the plight of the down-trodden, and above all, very supportive to every other class of individuals in the society. Hence, I have no option than to hearken to the voice of their out-cries that had reached high heaven.
“However, I have seen that there is not much work to be done in Oyigbo LGA other than to focus greater attention on empowering people to stand on their feet, doing one reasonable work or the other in order to earn a living with their families.
“And, I can assure you that as soon as the issue of human capital development, which will be my top priority in governance if voted to power, is taken care of, then, the problems of joblessness, pitiable standard of living, among others, would be a thing of the past”, Okere declared.
The amiable and self-confident Oyigbo Chairmanship hopeful, widely known for his pragmatic stance and peaceful disposition, also prayed that all the registered eligible voters in Oyigbo would see reason and come out en-masse to massively vote for him, pledging that he “will not fail the good people of Oyigbo LGA”.
