RSHA Goes Tough On Manhole Covers Vandals In PH
The Rivers State House of Assembly says it will go tough on manhole covers vandals on the streets of Port Harcourt.
Following this warning,the 9th Assembly will henceforth decisively deal with any one or group of persons caught vandalising manhole covers in any part of the major city or its environs .
Monitoring the level of damages recently in Port Harcourt ,House Committee Chairman on Manhole Covers Vandals ,Hon Jumbo Uko said it is regrettable some hoodlums wants to frustrate genuine intension of Rivers State government to transform the state to an enviable height.
Hon Jumbo ,representing Bonny Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly hinted that his committee decided to go round the streets of Port Harcourt to monitor the level of damages and forestall further perpetration of such heinous crime by enemies of the state.
Hon Jumbo opined the full weight of the law will fall on any one caught ,saying the noble gesture of the state government deserve commemdatuons and support, not the other way round.
He said the visit has afforded him the opportunity to see things by himself and adopt best approach to bring it to an end.
Hon Jumbo said it is high time the ugly trend is brought to an end by positioning people whose responsibility is to monitor twenty four hours to avoid further occurrence.
Hon Jumbo also sought the full support of communities where such government projects are sited.
“The efforts of immediate past administration in the state as well as current administration at transforming the State should be encouraged by everyone.
“Rivers State government intension were geared towards building a world class and epicentre of development, hence every hands must be on deck to achieve it.
“Any one or group going contrary shall be treated as a common enemy.
“The areas affected are Elimgbu new flyover, Rumuola, Ikwerre road ,Town axis this evil will no longer be tolerated.
“We have mapped out strategies to confront this hoodlums as well as ending this worrisome menace. We will trace them to any level for apprehension as well as their sponsors.
“It is no longer business as usual. The state government led by Fubara meant well for the people and development of the State, anyone or group who have decided to be an obstacle shall be resisted forthwith using government machinary,” Hon. Jumbo said.

Tai Agric Sector Gets Emergency Attention …As Chairman Distributes Farm Inputs, Inaugurates Technical Team

The Chairman of Tai Local Government Council of Rivers State, Hon. Matthew Nenu Bari Dike has declared a state of emergency in the agriculture sector of Tai local government.
Speaking while distributing farm implements and other agricultural support packages to the farmers at the council’s headquarters in Saakpenwa, yesterday, Dike challenged farmers to show their farms before requesting for financial assistance.
The council boss stated that as a government, they were committed to putting smiles on the faces of the people and assured that his administration would ensure that every person in the local government is happy.
“As a government we want to assure you that, we will stop at nothing to ensure you all are empowered and living happily”.
According to him, “the gesture is aimed at enhancing food production and security through agriculture, and enjoined all lovers of agriculture in the local government area to identify with the quest to redefine development through agriculture in the local government.
He encouraged everyone to cultivate the passion and return to agriculture, to guarantee self-reliance, maximum food production and security in the area.
His administration, he said, would purchase more yam seedlings in order to get greater production to encourage exportation beyond the shores of Nigeria.
“A boost in yam production will also empower farmers in the Local Government Area”, the elated chairman said.
In a related development, the Chairman has inaugurated a five, member Agricultural Technical Committee for the Local Government Area.
The committee is made up of Pst. Anderson Wariboko, Barr. Paul Newman,, Smith Nyor-Ue, Gladys Jumbo and Dr Keke Rammyson
Also speaking, the Director of Agriculture, Tai Local Government Area, Mr Anderson Wariboko revealed that the event was part of activities to mark the chairman’s 100 days in office.
Wariboko who led the chairman, and other leaders of the council on the distribution of the farm inputs to the farmers, was full of praises for the chairman, Hon. Dike whom he said has the interest of the people at heart.
