Pray For Fubara, Stakeholder Urges Rivers People
Following the alleged faceoff between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and former Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, an opinion leader from Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Elder Freedom Chuku, has sued for peace in the State.
Chuku also called on Rivers people to pray for the success of the Fubara administration.
He particularly called on the royal fathers of Rivers State to wade into the alleged faceoff between the Governor and his principal, Wke, who is the Minister, Federal Capital Territory.
Chuku, who is also the President, “Advocacy For Good Morals, Peace And Better Society”, said this in an exclusive interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt.
He said the current face-off between the Governor of the State and the former Governor was capable of derailing development in the State.
According to him, Governor Siminalaye Fubara needs a conducive environment to deliver dividends of democracy to Rivers people, adding that traditional rulers and other elders of the State must intervene to bring the crisis to an end.
“My message is in view of what is going on in the State. His Excellency, the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, needs the prayers of Rivers people. He needs to be encouraged”, he said.
He also said the immediate past Governor of the State, Wike, also needs to be encouraged to succeed but added that the former Governor needs to encourage Governor Fubara to succeed.
“I appeal to the elders of Rivers State, the royal fathers, that something urgent needs to be done because there is this saying that when two elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers.
“It won’t be good for Rivers people not to benefit from the dividends of democracy as a result of crisis. “So, I will appeal to our royal fathers, starting from HRM Ohna Sergeant Chidi Awuse, Nneweli Emohua, who, by the grace of God, is the Chairman, Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers; the immediate past Chairman, HRM King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, the Amanyanabo of Opobo Kingdom, to see how they can assemble all First Class traditional rulers in Rivers State to bring this misunderstanding among two of our leaders to an end, so that we can breathe an air of peace.
“So that Rivers State can enjoy the dividends of democracy”, he said.
Chuku also called on church leaders to pray for peace in the State, saying the State cannot move foreward without peace.
The Activist described the Appeal Court judgment which declared Sir Fubara as dully elected Governor of the state as a welcome development and called on the opposition parties to join hands with the Governor to move the state forward.
