It’s Early To Judge Fubara’s Govt, Group Tells Detractors
A non-governmental organization (NGO) in Rivers State, the Bolo Patriotic and Development Initiative (BOPDEI), an advocate for quality services, has called on detractors of the present dispensation under Governor Siminalayi Fubara to have a re-think as it is too early to judge the administration in the state within nine months running.
This is contained in a statement by the group at Bolo Town, in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area of the state and signed by its President, Dr. Fauyefika Kiri; Secretary, Barr.Rufus Jeremiah and Publicity Secretary, Elder Cosmos Eremie shortly after an enlarged congress meeting of the body.
The group frowned at the actions of the detractors against the leadership of the state as championed by Sir Siminalayi Fubara as Chief Executive Officer, especially by judging the Governor for non-performance within nine months of the government in terms of Rivers development, describing such as, “unacceptable, undemocratic and ill-conceived of those who never wish the state well”.
It urged the detractors to give the Governor more time to prove his leadership mettle in the business of governance of the state, which is on course, where the governor has commenced so much developmental projects and programmes, ranging from roads construction, rehabilitation, maintaining of peace in the state, clearing backlogs of salary arrears owed workers’, pensioners and the promotion of civil servants, teachers, among other programmes.
The body used the opportunity to call on Governor Siminalayi Fubara not to be deterred by the negative insinuations of mischief-makers and their unwarranted judgment on the leadership style of the Governor.
Meanwhile, the group has declared their unflinching loyalty and support to the Governor in his quest to rebrand the state that was battered by mis-governance, corruption, sectionalism and lack of care for the masses of the state by previous administrations.
“We, as a body is solidly behind Your Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, Governor of Rivers State, especially in your quest to change the poor status of the state previously to a better and prosperous future. We are standing with you till 2031, as no other party or person who has no interest of the people at their heart will take your place.
“Rest assured, Your Excellency, we would mobilize for your re-election in 2027 to complete your programmes as to rebrand our dear state and get it out of the current status it is today developmentally.”
It stated that the recent Supreme Court verdict of Sir Siminalayi Fubara as the duly elected Governor of Rivers State is an indication that God’s hand is upon the Governor and his government and therefore, “Whatever God has brought together, there should be no separation,” the group submitted.
