To many, it is a late entry

into the presidential race 2015, afterall, the two big wigs have been named so shy the late arrival?

Well, the news is that a woman has eventually emerged to clinch the presidential ticket for 2015 general elections that is just some weeks away from now.

Prof. Remi Shonaiya has decided few days ago to run for the presidency under the platform of Kowa Party, believing that an ordinary Nigerian can also rule Nigeria.

Her desire to run for the presidency may have been adjudged a waste of resources, time and effort as some critics see her as one who can not make any headway, hence a woman with ball, that shoots for the moon, worst still, an ambitious woman.

For whatever interpretation anybody may give Prof. Remi’s desire to go for the presidency followers of event see it as a springboard to her greatness. Although it may not be right to draw conclusion at this point as to who wins and who loses, even if anyone could see her eventual emergence as a mirage, the truth still remains that the mist is gradually being removed from the eyes of the Nigerian women.

She may not have been popular in the political landscape of Nigeria, but she is initiated henceforth and who knows where her courage would take her to?

At least, it is the dream of women’s democracy network; a global initiative, to increase, women’s political participation, leadership role in civic and political life and election to public offices.

That a woman considers herself fit to vie for the most exalted political position in the country, is a remarkable democrative wave that was once unthinkable.
