An Enugu High Court on
\nMonday remanded seven murder suspects, including a septuagenarian, in prison custody till Sept. 26 for their counsel to file their bail applications.
\nThe accused persons are Denis Ozongwu, Emeka Offor, Uchechukwu Ude, Thomas Ugwu, Nkem Ezechina Ugwu, Daniel Ugwu and a septuagenarian, D.C. Ugwu.
\nThey were arrested in December 2015 following the murder of a prominent lawyer, Ejimofor Ozongwu, over a land dispute in Okwojo-Ngwo, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.
\nThe accused persons had earlier pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and murder.
\nTheir bail application was hindered by an application to amend the charges by the prosecution counsel, Mrs Rosa Okafor.
\nOkafor told the court that 22 witnesses would testify against them and prayed the court for time to file her amendments.
