The Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency, RSSDA, says it is ready to partner with communities in Rivers State in promoting sustainable grassroots development.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the 2nd Annual General Meeting, AGM of the Idama Empowerment Development Association, EDA, in Port Harcourt recently, the Executive Director of the Agency, Mr Noble Pepple, said it was necessary for genuine efforts at grassroots development to be complemented.<\/p>\n

Using the Idama Empowerment Development Association, in Akuku Toru Local Government Area, as a model, he said the successful implementation of the Global Memorandum of Understanding in the area was commendable.<\/p>\n

Pepple who was represented by a director in the agency, Mr Tonye Sokubo, said the GMoU signed by the Chevron NNPC, Joint Venture and Idama community became successful because of the peaceful disposition of Idama community.<\/p>\n

He re-affirmed that RSSDA as an interventionist agency was poised to partner with communities with well identified and articulated development priority, and assured that the self help effort of Idama community would be complemented by the agency.<\/p>\n

In his remark, the Chairman Idama Empowerment Development Association, Mr Karibo Innocent, said the EDA was committed to using the limited resources available for the development of the community.<\/p>\n

He called on stakeholders to partner with Idama community in its GMoU process to ensure\u00a0 that the right development impact was made in the country, while commending Chevron Nigeria Limited over its commitment to the GMoU process, he assured that accountability and trainsparency would remain the guiding principle\u00a0 of the association.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the Manager Government \/Public Affairs of Chevron, Engr. Femi Odumabo had expressed satisfaction over the level of transparency demonstrated by Idama EDA in the implementation of the GMoU.<\/p>\n
