The FCT Minister, Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero has condemned the unprovoked attack on FCT Administration officials on enforcement duty in the Federal Capital City, Abuja.
\nThe Minister made this condemnation on Sunday in Abuja when some hoodlums in Jabi District of the Federal Capital City attacked some officials of the Directorate of Road Traffic Services who were on enforcement of traffic regulations especially arresting those contravening the ban on the use of Commercial Motorcycles (Okada) within the city centre.
\nSenator Aliero lamented that some hoodlums attacked the FCT Administration officials, wounding one Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO) and a Police personnel attached to the roving team.
\nHe decried that some few weeks ago some officials of the Abuja Environmental Protection Board on official assignment were equally attacked leaving some of them wounded.
\nThe Minister described such action as criminal and reiterated that the perpetrators would not be allowed to go scot-free as the long arm of the law will surely catch up with them.
\nAccording to him, the FCT Administration would not sit back and fold its arms to see some few undesirable elements take the laws into their hands by inflicting pains on innocent officials who are on their official duty.
\nHis words: \u201cThe VIO official had a deep cut on his head while the Police Officer had dislocation on his arm but the perpetrators of this criminal act would be fished out by the Police and would be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others who may want to immitate this anti-social behaviour\u201d.
\nThe Minister restated that the war against the use of commercial motorcycles in the Federal Capital City would be sustained until the City is rid of their illegal activities.
\nMeanwhile, the Directorate of Road Traffic Services has within the last three days impounded 120 commercial motorcycles (Okada) within the Federal Capital City, Abuja.
\nOn parking of vehicles at undesignated areas in the Federal Capital City, the Minister revealed that the Directorate of Road Traffic Services arrests an average of 140 vehicles on weekly basis for illegal parking within the City.
\nHe solicited for the cooperation of motoring public to sanitise the Abuja roads especially at the Peak hours because Abuja belongs to all us as we are all stakeholders in its project.
\nThe Minister disclosed that the Abuja Investment Company Limited (AICL), which is the investment arm of the FCT Administration, had been charged with the mandate of facilitating the rapid development of multi-level car parks in and around the FCC, through veritable Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives, to deal with the growing traffic and parking challenges confronting the City.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
