The Federal Government has donated relief materials to the victims of\u00a0 Eke market\u00a0 fire disaster in Ishiagu community in\u00a0 Ivo Local Government Area of\u00a0 Ebonyi State. The\u00a0 relief materials were worth\u00a0 millions of Naira.<\/p>\n
Handing over the materials to the council\u00a0 chairman of Ivo local government area, Hon. Eze Celestine Eze, for onward distribution to the affected traders, Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Alhaji Sani Sidi, expressed sympathy with the victims, advising them to put whatever that had happened behind them and forge ahead.<\/p>\n
He, \u00a0however, \u00a0described the incident as quite unfortunate, saying \u201cthe federal government \u00a0shares in your agony and pains occasioned by the fire\u00a0 and that is why, NEMA, is here to assist you with these relief materials which I am sure would bring you succor and\u00a0 not \u00a0crisis during the distribution\u201d.<\/p>\n
The NEMA boss, who performed the assignment through \u00a0\u00a0the South East zonal coordinator of the agency,\u00a0 Dr. Abdulahi\u00a0 \u00a0Bandele Onimode, enjoined the council chairman to ensure that\u00a0 the \u00a0materials were distributed equitably and fairly among the victims.<\/p>\n
According to Sidi, his office \u00a0decided to \u00a0approve the materials following \u00a0a comprehensive \u00a0assessment of the \u00a0\u00a0fire incident as \u00a0carried out by the South East zonal office of the organisation, adding that\u201cour \u00a0officials will be coming back to the affected market in two weeks time to ascertain the level of \u00a0work in the reconstruction project\u201d.<\/p>\n
In his speech at the event, Ivo council chief, applauded NEMA the Ebonyi state NEMA\u00a0and the federal government for their concern and \u00a0intervention, which he said, would go a long way in bringing relief to the affected traders.<\/p>\n
While assuring the victims of equitable distribution of the items , the chairman, noted that \u00a0reconstruction work at the market would gulp about N10 million, adding that his administration was determined in ensuring full realisation of \u00a0the exercise.<\/p>\n
He expressed\u00a0 our gratitude\u00a0 to the federal government, \u00a0NEMA, and \u00a0\u00a0the Ebonyi State\u00a0 government for coming to aid\u00a0 the victims in this critical \u00a0moment of losses.<\/p>\n
Also speaking, Mr. Felix Nwaja, chairman of the Eke market Traders Association, had equally in his brief remarks, expressed appreciation to both the state and federal government for the concern shown so far \u00a0since the unfortunate incident befell them.<\/p>\n
Some of the items presented to the victims include, 100 bags of rice, 50 bags of beans, 50 bags of garri, 100 bundles of roofing sheets, 100 bags of cement, 1000 pieces of 2x3x12 planks, 1000 pieces of 2×4 x12 planks, 50 bags of roofing nails as well as 50 packets of zinc nails, among others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
