As part of efforts to live to its social responsibility, the
\nLagos State Government, has embarked on the construction of projects that will
\ndeliver more resettlement camps in the state.<\/p>\n

The major reason for embarking on the project, it has
\ngathered, is to reduce the rate of displaced and homeless people on the streets
\nof the metropolis.<\/p>\n

Victims of natural disasters within the state had increased
\nin\u00a0 recent time hence the need for more
\nresettlement camps.<\/p>\n

These camps are to be built in three senatorial districts of
\nthe state: Ikorodu, Apapa and Igando where homeless and displaced people will
\nbe camped for some months, pending when they will be resettled.<\/p>\n

Already, the state had completed Ikorodu project
\nconstruction.<\/p>\n

According to Mr. Egberongbe Tope, the state had embarked on
\nthese projects to cater for the displaced citizens in the case of fire disaster
\nor flood.<\/p>\n

Tope, who is an engineer with a construction company NEESARM
\nConstruction International, further stated that the government does not have
\nthe intention of giving the displaced homes but to reduce the rate of
\nhomelessness as a result of the disasters, by keeping and providing for their
\nbasic needs without payment of rents.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is not necessarily only for 9 months. It depends on the
\ntype of disaster that happens. If it is something the people can not handle in
\nnine months, the government will just have to extend their stay, he noted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
