The Rivers State Govern
\nment has given automatic employment to 36 doctors who from the Kuban Medical School in Russia, who were beneficiaries of the Rivers State scholarship scheme.
\nThe Commissioner for Education Dame Alice Lawrence-Nemi, stated this in her office when the medical doctors visited her on their return from Russia.
\nAlice Lawrence-Nemi also said that the state Government needed the services of the medical doctors at the sick bays in the model primary and secondary schools and also at the model health centres in the state.
\nThe Commissioner revealed that the State Government had increased the number of scholarship since the inception of the present administration, adding that the State Government through the Ministry of Education and the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) had awarded scholarship for students to study in different countries.
\nThe Education boss noted that the Governor Amaechi-led government had improved the health sector in the state by building model health centre across the state which was equipped with modern facilities, noting that the health centres scattered across the state are located close to the model primary and secondary schools.
\nDame Alice Lawrence-Nemi also congratulated the medical doctors on their graduation and noted that the investment of the state government in the education sector was now yielding positive results.
\nShe also commended the three medical doctors who graduated with distinction\u00a0 and tasked the doctors to give their best. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Dr.Richard Ofuru said he was pleased to see those whose screening exercise he conducted seven years ago, return as professionals.
\nDr.Ofuru commended the Commissioner for Education for ensuring that the vision of\u00a0 Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in education was well manifested.
\nThe Permanent Secretary also advised the medical doctors to take their work very seriously so as to justify the investment the state government had invested in them.
\nEarlier, the spoke person of the doctors, Dr Manoah Edwin, commended the Rivers State Governor, Rt.Hon.Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for giving them the scholarship to study in Russia.
\nDr.Edwin who hails from Andoni Local Government stated that they did not lack anything throughout their stay in Russia, and assured that the doctors will give their expertise to the state.
