\nPeoples\u2019 Democratic Party (PDP) in\u00a0Imo State,\u00a0Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to upgrade Alvan Ikokwu Federal College of Education, Owerri to\u00a0a university.
\nIwuanyanwu made the appeal at a\u00a0rally\u00a0to receive former PDP members back to the party in Owerri.
\nHe said the upgrade was necessary as the infrastructure to make the college of education a university was already in place.
\nHe also asked that the Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri , be made a medical school using the Federal Medical Centre in the state.
\nIwuanyanwu, also a member of the PDP Board of Trustees, thanked the President for transforming the airport in Owerri into an international Cargo Airport and for his other achievements.
\nHe thanked the President for welcoming the returnees and pledged the unalloyed support of the people of the\u00a0state to the president in\u00a02015 Presidential Election.
\nThe Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prof. Viola Onwuliri,\u00a0commended the\u00a0people of Imo for coming out en-mass to welcome the president.
\nShe thanked the president for the numerous projects his administration had embarked upon in the state since he assumed duty and promised that the state would not let him down.
\nA former governor of the state, Chief Achike Udenwa, expressed gratitude to the president for honouring his request\u00a0to come personally to receive the returnees to PDP.
\nHe said the presence of the president and the mood of the masses was an indication that the state\u00a0was back as a PDP state.
\nThe National Woman Leader of PDP,\u00a0Mrs\u00a0Kema Chikwe, expressed gratitude to the returnees and to the president for finding time to welcome them.
